Now that the asparagus is finished, and the vegetable garden is growing by leaps and bounds, it is time to look forward to the next adventures. First up is haying. Easton and Will have been working on the haying equipment and enjoying the steep learning curve. After all the tinkering is done, there should be some pretty awesome hay bales to stack for the winter. Haying should be finished just in time for the U-pick raspberry season. The berries on the canes are ripening and it is shaping up to be a pretty good harvest as long as the weather holds.
April was a great month to prune... Apples, raspberries, cherries, non-fruit trees, you name it, it has all been pruned.
May arrived and so did 4000 new strawberry plants. It took many long hours and lots of helping hands to plant them but they are now snug in the ground and beginning their new life on Plum Ridge Farm. Strawberries will be ready for picking in the summer of 2018.
Mid May means asparagus and rhubarb. Our schedule allows us to bring your order to Stonewall either Tuesday or Thursday evening. Text or call 1-407-967-8213, or call the farm line at 204-886-3472.
